Re: My Mosaic

@tyme  I actually find if your having something like churros and chocolate which could be a bit sickly, that it’s best to not have a milky drink too.  It’s all too much otherwise.

Re: My Mosaic

Hmm not heard of Amatriciana @AuntGlow  but I do like a bit of chili, just not too much. I’ve really enjoyed a good curry since my trip to India many years ago.

hopefully she enjoys the trip and doesn’t complain the whole time. And hopefully I can hold it all together.

Re: My Mosaic

I wanted a coffee, but then it was getting late so I thought I'd just have a smoothie. And yes, the choco and churros was more than enough @Bow !

Re: My Mosaic

Ooh, definitely give it a go! It's not too hot, you might like it. Do you eat meat? It often has pancetta in it. @Bow

Ah yes! Tell me more about India. What did you learn/what was your most memorable moment?

You know what, I think she will. And if she complains, and if things are hard, we will be here to listen. 💛

Re: My Mosaic

Love meat @AuntGlow  could never be a vegetarian! We actually went to a Korean bbq place for dinner last night for my brothers birthday. It was heaps cool but oh my gosh so much meat!

india- it was like 20 yrs ago now. My first missions trip with my church so it was pretty full on. Just landing and walking outside was a massive culture shock and then the drive to our hotel- wow. We visited children’s orphanages the kids were beautiful, so happy. We did big open air crusades, that was a real eye opener. We did really random things like going to and blessing the opening of a new chemist, people wanted westerns to come to their house so we visited a lot of people. We went up into really remote villages, had showers full clothes of course in farm fields with massive hoses cause that’s all they had! You remember the people.
One thing I still very vividly remember was our last day, walking the streets after a meal, the road was a bit flooded with waste and water, as we walked past a man popped up from a sewage hole, he was like fully emerged down under there and the smell.
we had some pretty hot meals there. And some really unusual meals. In India you only ever eat with one hand, can’t remember which one it is, but the other one is used to wipe yourself after the toilet. And yea we experienced some very unique toilet situations.
I got really sick too. Nearly had to go to hospital.

Re: My Mosaic

hey @Bow how are you today?

was just reading some of the posts about churros and choc - absolutely agree with you, I made the mistake of ordering hot choc and churros... it's defs an overwhelming pair for me.

oh yes, the toilet situation in India... i always carry around toilet paper when i visit public restrooms. there's a lot more seated toilets now compared to 10 years ago which is helpful for ppl like me who hate squating haha. yep it's eating with the right hand and wiping with the left - even if you hand things over to people (like giving gifts or money, etc) it's considered disrespectful if you hand it over with your left hand in our culture. i had an uncle who stopped talking to his sister-in-law because she handed a tea with her left hand (they're all good now) 😆

Re: My Mosaic

Hi @rav3n  your probably gone now.

we are in our pjs, in bed watching tv at our hotel. We had an early dinner cause apparently D was starving!

we went to 7 book shops today. We… or maybe just I, could have spent hours in each one. So many beautiful books. Lots of really old ones. D and I got lots of book!

im tired. And for whatever reason, my shoulder is sorer tonight.

I think I knew you were from India? I know they have a lot of pretty strict traditions yeah. Wondering if you know this dessert that I had….. it was at someone’s house, it was this golf size white ball in this super super sweet syrup?

Re: My Mosaic

Don’t know if that’s them @tyme  they were white. They were not very nice, very weird texture too.

I’m okish. D and I are away for a few days. It’s nice when it’s just us hanging out. It’s cold here too in the mountains.

Re: My Mosaic

YUM!!! I went to Korean BBQ for a friend's birthday the other weekend too, sooo good. @Bow

Wow, what an experience this must have been for you. And like you said, eye-opening.

It sounds like you are trying to keep as cozy as possible in the mountains! The bookstore adventure sounds really wholesome. What book are you most excited about? 🤩
